Monday Updates - the Free Press, Epstein, and AI

A recording from Ellie Leonard's live video

A few updates on Trump’s ban on the free press, including CNN, MSNOW, and Politico. I mentioned a couple of films in this episode, including the Fourth Estate (2018), directed by Liz Garbus

and Endangered (2022), directed by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady.

For updates on Katie Phang’s lawsuit against the DOJ, please visit Katie Phang v. Todd Blanch and scroll to the bottom for the most recent updates.

For updates on the Epstein Files Transparency Act II, please visit the Congress.gov.

I also referenced a hearing a few weeks back in which Todd Blanch and the DOJ were supposed to explain the redactions in 10 specific documents. You can see their responses here:

Todd Blanche and the 10 Unredacted Files

This week, Todd Blanche appeared “in camera”—a review conducted in private without the presence of the public, press, or a jury—in response to a July 25th order by Judge Emmet G. Sullivan, requiring Blanche to submit 10 unredacted files from the Epstein Investigation, and give thorough explanations as to why names have been redacted from the public view.
