I wonder who is getting those defense contracts?

The bidding should be transparent, shouldnt it?

Seems like ALL suggestions from Trump&Maga are about doing business and profiting the already wealthy individuals ,corporations.

Their behavior is transactional. The Greed asks: ” What is there for ME” rather than ” How can we work through this so that it benefits us BOTH?”

It’s fairly obvious, but bears repeating: “defense” spending must contain an unimaginable trough of corruption money . It’s never been audited, never had someone say “ their money was for missiles, now did it REALLY go to missiles?

There’s so many millions interested to bestow on campaign contributors you can’t convince me that just how at least 20% of it goes.

Money floats to the top.

It reads as if 47 is planning to go to war with the entire world. The only part of this that’s a surprise is the planning because he typically doesn’t bother laying groundwork.

You do realize of course that by your very cogent and understandable distillation of the text you should expect criticism for distortion, or outright falsification, simply because you're giving people a chance to see what the goddamn thing actually says.

Is it normal to have funding that won’t be released for 8-9 years out? Possibly, hopefully a different administration?

I'm not sure...

I thought that the long term funding was a way to downplay the trillions being added to the budget by the tax cuts? Also the CBO typically looks 10 years out when they score budgets. That way you can still say there is funding even if it never materializes

But some of this funding or parts of the bill, don’t even begin for 10 years. Who will be in office then, what’s the purpose?

So many people and children without insurance. Homelessness numbers up every where.

Stripping vital programs that the poor depend on so we can pour more money into the military.

We are no longer the preeminent country in the world. Wake up. The world laughs at us that an adjudicated felon grifter that soils himself uncontrollably was elected to the presidency after planning and committing an insurrection.

We live where they ban diversity and ban books about diversity.

Our infrastructure is crumbling and we have a worthless, grifting slimy, gibbering orange ghoul for president. President can you believe it? I was sick for 3 weeks after this buffoon was reelected. Obviously republicans want this. So please remember it is courtesy of the republican party if we lose our democracy

Our family relied very heavily on the WIC program and Montana Healthy Kids while we worked multiple jobs to pay the bills. These are vital and necessary programs for hardworking Americans.

I used to volunteer with the homeless and we had a food pantry as well that had a closet where we accepted gently used clothing. These are good people hitting a bumpy spot and needing help.

Our military is big enough. Things are difficult for so many. To see the transference of even more wealth to the already wealthy is adding insult to injury.

I am ashamed and I don’t want to die leaving my children and grandchildren in this country. There is no future for the poor or middle class in the US.

You see, the individual disbursement amounts for humanitarian uses of money don’t allow for the surreptitious funneling of large amounts to campaign contributors/bribers.

The amounts are too small.

Now take a 150,000,000 guided missile budget, and no one knows when 10 or 15 million “ falls off a truck.” That’s why they spend an unimaginable amount on “defense” when it’s impossible to invade the USA.

From outside.

Ellie, have you looked at Senator Grassley’s altered/changes to Section 70302? Doesn’t go far enough in my opinion. I sent emails to both of my Senators and my Congressman about it. If you can, will you report about it.

A little scary but I am actually for the new shipbuilding facilities. We are way behind China which owns most of shipbuilding. This raises serious national security concerns should we go to war. I am very worried that it won’t be transparent and am not at all convinced that they will be sited in this country where they should be. After all we have the examples of his first term. After he spoke glowingly about manufacturing here at Carrier facility in Indiana-those jobs left the country and he did nothing. We had more manufacturing built under Biden. Now the battery facilities that were to be built here are being shut down and will be built overseas same with solar plants. We were way behind other countries and will continue to be

Everything seems one miss direction or another. That big beautiful bill, let us see. Let us see if we get a C. R. I am praying for a clean resolution in the Senate. Although most of the money in some departments have been spent, by July 2025.
