By now we're all elbow-deep in some summary or other of the "Big Beautiful Bill," trying to wade through 11 tar pits, ahem, chapters on immigration, taxes, the military, Medicaid, Medicare, and how to otherwise beat down communities of color, undocumented immigrants, and disadvantaged neighborhoods and schools.
It's very helpful to know just specifically who each of the participants in the construction of this bill are/were.
I think that something possibly useful that could be done in respect of these personal actors, is that we do everything we can to show their names and faces in *public* as frequently as possible, so that everyone will become aware of who they are.
I can even imagine a T-shirt campaign in which each such person is featured, along with the text "I helped to author this bill." And then we might get persons in their constituencies to wear those in public, and discuss the various major points of the bill that have taken the various social and financial supports away from their constituents.
He justified taking food out of children's mouth with a fuckin Bible verse?? Well...he's gonna burn in hell. He needs to be voted out...or maybe stoned....gotta check my Bible on that

As a Registered Nurse I am very disheartened with the passsge. Already small rural hospitals are announcing their closures within a few months due to cuts in Medicaid.
Personally, I call it a Murder Bill.

I work in Special Education and Social Services and have for the past 25 years and am gutted every day that goes by since HE came to power...again. As a former blogger and writer for various websites in the past and never getting paid, I greatly appreciate your writing. We're things better financially for me, I'd pay every writer whose work I read and enjoyed on here. But times are really tough right now.
We are staying with family right now who are very strong, very educated MAGA voters. They don't have their heads in the sand. They know exactly what the policies are and what they voted for. To say it's hard is a huge understatement.
It really blows my mind, honestly. The guy that wrote it has extremely high percentages of poverty and Medicaid enrollment, especially among children. It’s like he’s completely unaware that it hurts his district the most. I can’t imagine he’s that stupid. But that leaves one other option.

I don’t, and will never, understand why they think it’s ok to turn their backs on the people that put them in office in the first place. I truly hope that each and everyone of them are voted out of office and they live out their lives in very heavy shame! They have given people in their districts a death sentence! I find that immoral and disgusting. We deserve better than this!

• Are they educated but “just wanting things to stay ‘the same’” and vote for how they think it “should” be, vs how things actually are?
